The business programme for the Russian Space Forum, the main business event of Space Week, has been unveiled. The Forum will take place at the National Centre Russia on 9 April. It will include 13 sessions divided into 5 thematic blocks, as well as a plenary session entitled Space Agenda 2030+: Global Challenges and National Strategies, in which, among others, foreign partners will take part.
The RSF will be a unique event for the country, providing a vital platform for dialogue between all representatives of the industry. This initiative will contribute to the development of the space industry by setting specific objectives and fostering cooperation among its participants. The Forum is being organized by the Roscosmos State Corporation with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation. The event operator is the Roscongress Foundation.
“The current stage of development in the space industry is characterized by intensifying global competition and a transition to a new model of the space economy, based on data, technology, and scalable services. It is of paramount importance for Russia not only to maintain its position, but also to develop its own technological solutions. The Russian Space Forum will serve as a platform for generating systematic approaches to the industry’s development, bringing together the resources of the state, science, and business,” emphasized Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation.
Experts from various fields will be invited to the Forum to discuss strategies for expanding humanity’s capabilities in space. One of the themes to be discussed at the event will be the outlook for training new personnel and modernizing technologies for safe flights. For example, one of the sessions, entitled Medical and Biological Support for Space Missions beyond Low Earth Orbit, will focus participants’ attention on the importance of the conditions cosmonauts operate in. Improvements to safety systems will enable them to adapt better to extreme conditions, thereby significantly expanding their capabilities.
“Space exploration is not only a technological challenge; it is also a complex undertaking centred on a human being. The development of the orbital economy, the creation of new launch vehicles, and the advancement of communication and data processing technologies require the training of a new generation of specialists and an interdisciplinary approach. We must start building the skills that will be in demand in the space industry of the future today: from engineering solutions to questions related to sustaining human life and work beyond Earth,” noted Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee for Space Week 2026.
The development of lunar infrastructure will be discussed during the session entitled The Moon: From Exploration to Development. This programme is essential for ensuring national sovereignty in the context of active space exploration, and will enable a technological breakthrough that will influence the study of deep space. This will be discussed during the session Fundamental Space Research: From Low Earth Orbit to the Cosmic Frontier. In recent years, Russia has made progress in understanding cosmic phenomena. This information forms the basis for further exploration of interstellar space and the subsequent integration of this knowledge into everyday life.
“The Russian Space Forum is not only a glimpse into the future, but also a tribute to the past. During the Forum, all the invited speakers, partners, and participants will be able to contribute to shaping the direction of the space industry’s development. Space research and exploration is one of the country’s priorities,” said Dmitry Bakanov, Director General, Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities.
A key theme of the Forum will be the potential of private space companies, which have become increasingly active in recent years. The session entitled Private Space: Investment and Growth Models for a New Ecosystem will address state influence on these companies and their development prospects over the coming decade. Issues related to competition in both the global and domestic markets will also be covered.
